Funding Offered for Warm and Welcoming Spaces

The grants are being offered to those that open their doors for free at least once a week, so that local people who need them can keep warm, meet a friendly face and enjoy a chat.

With the cost of living rising, Warm Spaces are opening across the city to help residents who may be facing financial difficulties.  

Community groups, faith organisations and Community Interest Companies are among those encouraged to consider offering a Warm space and to apply for a grant of up to £500.

The funding can be used for running costs such as energy bills, refreshments or events or activities.

Councillor Raymond Padilla, Cabinet member for Communities and Neighbourhoods at Gloucester City Council, said: “With peoples’ bills rising we know that many residents are finding it hard to keep up with the cost of living particularly as we reach the festive season and all the financial demands that it can bring. Warm Spaces provide a valuable service and we’re grateful to those groups who have already opened them and would urge others to apply.”

Each Warm Space must be available for at least one four hour session every week.
