Gloucester City Council has welcomed a new Head of Finance and Resources.

Alison Turner who will also be the authority’s Section 151 Officer, has joined the city council from North Warwickshire Borough Council where she was the Interim Corporate Director for Resources, and Section 151 Officer.

Prior to that role she was at Sedgemoor District Council for 32 years where she started as an Accountancy Trainee progressing to the post of Strategic Director and Section 151 Officer.

Alison takes on the new role from interim Head of Finance and Resources, Hadrian Walters, who took on the post following Greg Maw leaving due to ill health.

Alison has worked in Local Government Finance since 1990, with most of her career spent at Sedgemoor District Council.

She was involved in several key projects including regeneration of the Northgate Yard Site leisure complex in Bridgwater, working with the county council to build a new leisure centre, establishing an organisation to run the council’s housing stock and setting up the new Somerset unitary council.

Alison joins the city council at a time when it is helping to drive forward several ambitious multi-million-pound regeneration projects, as well as looking ahead to government’s plans for local government reorganisation.

She said: “I’m delighted to be joining Gloucester City Council at a time when so much is going on and look forward to working with the teams to help deliver these projects.”
