Gloucester Crematorium to Host Memorial Event for Families
Christmas can be an especially difficult time for those who have lost family or friends.
Gloucester Crematorium’s annual Memorial Tree and Candle Lighting event offers an opportunity for people to take time to reflect.
The Crematorium Chapel will be open on Sunday, 30 November, 10am-2pm, for people to light a candle in memory of loved ones.
Following this, the Memorial Tree will be displayed at the front of the chapel and lit throughout December.
Residents are invited to write a message and place it on the tree.
Baskets of memorial tags will be available throughout the crematorium building and will be be collected regularly and placed on the tree during the display period.
Councillor Declan Wilson, deputy leader of Gloucester City Council and Cabinet Member for Performance and Resources, said: "This time of year, can be especially hard for those missing loved ones, which is why this annual event offers people the space to pause and remember those we have lost. We hope people will join us for a moment of quiet reflection and remembrance in a peaceful setting. Everyone is welcome.”
