Council Tax support set to continue during tough times
Since 2013 the council has offered the Local Council Tax Support Scheme, which aims to help those who are on a low income.
The discount is one of the most generous in the country and those who qualify can receive a discount for up to the full amount of their payments. Both employed and unemployed residents can apply.
Currently just over 5,000 households in Gloucester receive the discount on their bill.
Councillor Declan Wilson, Deputy Leader of Gloucester City Council and Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “We know that people are still suffering due to the cost of living crisis, with families on low incomes struggling the most. We are committed to doing everything we can to support people and this discount will go some way to helping them manage their bills.”
