First Steps as an Established Business

An introduction on where to begin with growing your business.

Establishing a business that works is only the start of your business journey. The next step to consider is how you can scale your business for continual growth.

Knowing how to go about doing this is where things can look complicated. However, there are a range of partners who have been set up to help advise businesses ready to expand, with specialist advice and support that will help you with realising your aspirations for success.

The Growth Hub

If you are a Gloucester based business, you are entitled to access the broad depth of resources made available by the Growth Hub to help your business grow. What is offered depends on where you are with your business journey; but services offered include a business navigator service, with a dedicated advisor to help you with every step you need to take in making your ambitions a reality. Their main base for Gloucester is at the University of Gloucestershire's new Business School Building.

We consider their service to be the first point of contact for any business either considering or undergoing growth. To find out more about what services the Growth Hub can make available to you, fill out their initial support form here, or ring them on 01242 715400.

Be the Business

Want to find ways to improve business performance? Be the Business, a government initiative set up to address national productivity, has a self-assessment tool that allows you to find out where your business can improve. They also have a variety of resources on how to grow your business effectively.

This is a resource we would recommend if you are considering the idea of business growth. However, the resources it promotes are also worthwhile for those who want to explore how they can improve business performance and increase their productivity. Access the benchmarking tool here.

Innovate UK: Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN)

KTN can link you and your business ideas with key expertise, markets and financial support, through a network of businesses, universities, funders and investors. Covering a broad range of sectors, they can put you in touch with potential partners and make you aware of key events for growth.

This is a first step in connecting in with those specialists who know what's required to make a business from a similar sector to your own successful. They also offer an array of funding opportunities, which can be found here.
