Council Tax bands

Council Tax valuations are based on the value of properties that are not used for business purposes. These are calculated by the Valuation Office Agency and placed into one of eight bands (A – H).

The value is based on the market value of the property on 1 April 1991

If you live in a new property the band will still be based on what the property value would have been in 1991.

Each property in Gloucester is in one of these Council Tax bands:

Band Value at 1 April 1991
A up to £40,000
B £40,001 to £52,000
C £52,001 to £68,000
D £68,001 to £88,000
E £88,001 to £120,000
F £120,001 to £160,000
G £160,001 to £320,000
H more than £320,000

Appeals

You cannot appeal just because you think your Council Tax is too much

I think my Council Tax band is wrong

You’ll need to contact the Valuation Office Agency to appeal your band.  You’ll need to continue paying your existing instalments until you know the outcome of an appeal.
