Book a Bulky Waste Collection
If you have a large item to get rid of, you can pay for a bulky waste collection.
Note that this service is only available to residential properties. Businesses, charities and community groups need to make arrangements with a registered private waste company.

How to prepare your items for bulky collection
You must:
- put your items out by 7am on the agreed collection day (we will usually collect your bulky items between 7am and 2pm);
- group or tie pieces together if you take your item(s) apart;
- make sure there are no sharp edges or exposed nails;
- make sure the item(s) are not broken down into more than 10 pieces;
- empty the items before collection (for example remove food from fridges and freezers – if food is left inside, we will not collect the item and you will not be eligible for a refund);
- leave the items where your bins are collected from – this is usually the front boundary of your property (our operatives will not come into your property, garage or garden to collect items);
- if you share communal waste facilities, and your bin store is locked or gated, our crews may not be able to gain access – please leave your bulky item on the pavement outside your property on the agreed collection day.

If you need to change or cancel your collection
Once you have completed your booking, you will not be able to change your collection date or the items booked. We'll only collect the items you've booked and won't take any additional items that are left out.
You will not be able to cancel your booking, or request a refund if:
- items are left out for collection and are taken before the collection date;
- you don't present the items on time or in the correct location;
- you decide you don't want the collection anymore.
Missed bulky collection
If we don't collect the items by the end of your collection day, please leave them out, and phone us on 01452 396 396. You must tell us about a missed collection within 1 working day for us to return.
Other ways to get rid of large or bulky items
There are a number of organisations in Gloucester that take bulky household items that are in good condition and conform with fire regulations:
- Furniture Recycling Project 01452 302303 or email
- Emmaus Gloucester 01452 413095 or email
If you decide to take your bulky items to a shop and it is closed, please do not leave your items outside the shop as this is fly-tipping.
