Report Dog Fouling

Use this service to report:

  • dog mess in a public area like parks, playgrounds and pavements
  • a dog and it's owner if you've witnessed the dog fouling or have evidence of who did it

If you witnessed a dog fouling incident, give us as much information as you can about:

  • the date, time and location of the incident 
  • what you saw
  • the owner and the type of dog

 

What happens next 

We aim to remove dog mess within 1 working day or same day if reported before 1pm

 

What happens after you report someone

We will look at the information you give to see if the case is appropriate for investigation by our environmental crime team.

We will only take action against a person if we have enough evidence that they committed the offence. Action can include fines or conviction.

Fines

Dog owners who fail to clear up after their dog can face an on the spot fine of £100. Those that are convicted can be fined up to £1,000.

The law states that being unaware a dog has fouled or not having a suitable bag is not a reasonable excuse.
