Report Fly Posting
Fly-posting is a criminal offence.
Use this service to tell us about a poster, sticker or sign that has been put up without permission of the property owner.
What you need to know
There are a few posters or placards that are normally permitted for display under the advertising regulations. These advertisements include events for a local charity, church, school and political events, and a travelling circus or fair. In all cases an advertisement should only be displayed with the landowner's permission and must not endanger public or highway safety. See advertisement and signage for more information.
What happens next
We'll look at the information you give to see if the case is appropriate for investigation by our planning enforcement team.
If a poster, sticker or sign is not permitted under regulations and we can identify the person who displayed it we will contact with them to arrange the removal. If the person does not respond to our request, we will remove the fly-posting and seek to recover any costs.
We'll only commence prosecution proceedings if we have enough evidence to do so. Action could include fines or conviction. People caught fly-posting can face a fine between £75 and £400 and those that are convicted can be fined up to £2,500 per poster.
If no details are provided, we'll aim to remove the fly-posting within 5 working days or if the material is offensive, we’ll remove it as quickly as we can.
