Children & Young People

The best people to tell us what children and young people in Gloucester need are the children and young people who live here.

In March 2023 we recruited our first Youth Engagement Strategy Officer to work directly with youth organisations and young people (up to 25 years old) so that their voices are included in our services and policies, from the start and on the issues/areas of our work that matter to them.

This includes:

Collaboration & Co-ordination: Working with partners across the city, we're hosting workshops/networking events to explore more/better opportunities for young people including those that will reduce youth violence, starting in January 2024. Click here to find out more.

Peer Research & Social Action: In a pilot starting in Feb 2024 young people (aged 16 to 25) will be paid to work with other young people to explore themes linked to youth violence, develop social action responses and share feedback with other agencies/appropriate strategies. Funded by the OPCC.

Work Experience & Work-Related Learning: Working with our venues, other Heritage Hub members and other organisations, we will give more young people the chance to experience the diverse and rich cultural and heritage offer in Gloucester on placements and other work-related learning activities.
