Community Warm Spaces Grant

Gloucester appreciates the great work that our communities and voluntary sector do to support our residents and building on the fantastic relationships made during the pandemic, to support Wellbeing (warm) Space venues where residents can come together during those colder days, enjoy a cup of tea, a snack and enjoy some interaction with others.

Aim

Provide support to ensure a community space is available to residents free of charge and with no barriers to access.

Who can apply

Community groups, faith organisations, CIC’s, CIOs, and trusts can all apply for a Community Warm Space Grant provided they are a constituted organisation with the ability to accept grant funding.

Private organisations, or proposals that promote a religious or political purpose are not eligible to apply.

Criteria

Grants can be used for any means that supports the opportunity to provide a community space this winter, this includes but is not limited to; energy bills, provision of free warm food/drinks, provide new events or activities, please provide a breakdown of expected costs on application.

Each space must be available for a minimum of one session of at least four hours every week.

Innovative applications that bring together partners to offer a range of non-judgement based, practical support is welcomed.

Community Spaces are expected to engage with other local voluntary and community organisations to link residents with local support services where possible and appropriate.

Grant Recipients are required to provide contact details and liaise with the Community Wellbeing Team to ensure wider support can be offered to residents in need

The grant value is up to £500. To ensure an equitable spread across the district and fair access to all residents, the Council reserves the right to refuse an otherwise eligible grant application on the grounds it considers there is already adequate provision.

Successful applicants will need to provide the District Council with monthly figures which show the total number of residents accessing the warm space and the number of sessions held.
