Types of ASB

Behaviour aimed at a person or group

This is where a person or group is targeted, rather than the whole community. It can happen in a private home or a public space. For example:

  • violent, aggressive, threatening or intimidating behaviour
  • verbal abuse
  • threats of violence
  • hate behaviour, such as harassment based on ethnicity or sexual orientation

Behaviour that affects the community

This is behaviour that affects the local community rather than one person or group. For example:

  • misuse of communal areas, shared equipment or space
  • drunk and rowdy behaviour
  • inappropriate behaviour and gestures

Environmental ASB

To report environmental issues such as noise, bonfires, animals or fly-tipping, visit Environment, waste and recycling.
