The Arbor closure
The Arbor is currently closed today (26 April) but will be open as normal on Monday 29 April. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Quedgeley LNR, located off Curtis Hayward Drive in Quedgeley is now managed by the Quedgeley Parish Council in partnership with GVCV.
The former grounds of Quedgeley House, this garden arboretum boasts an impressive list of birds, mammals, reptiles and invertebrates.
Appleton Way Balancing Pond is located on Appleton Way next to Green Lane Nature Reserve. The grassland is bordered by trees and hedgerows. Recently, as part of the Urban Greening Project the wildlife value of the site has been enhanced. With meadow creation, the creation of scrapes and tree and hedgerow planting we look forward to seeing the benefits to people and wildlife over future years.
Green Farm Orchard LNR in Quedgeley is located near the canal off Sim's Lane. Rich in wildlife, the site boasts a variety of habitats including ponds, grassland, hedgerows and fruit trees. Dragonflies and damsleflies can be seen around the ponds as well as a variety of birdlife.
Hempsted Meadows, located on David Hook Way, features grassland bordered by hedgerows. A variety of birds visit the site.
The 9-hectare Saintbridge Balancing Pond LNR consists of a wet balancing pond and a 'dry pond' overflow flood storage area. The site is managed in partnership with Friends of Saintbridge Pond and the Environment Agency. The hard work and dedication of the Friends of Saintbridge Pond has seen the site receive the Green Flag Award for several years running.
